Without a drinks package you could run up a collossal bill. One recent passenger of MSC Opera calculated that she reduced her drinks bill by 400% simply by pre-purchasing a drinks package.

MSC offer a range of such packages. The one below offers the best deal:

ALLEGRISSIMO ADULT – AU$36 / NZ$44 (per person, per day)
Unlimited consumption of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including wine by the glass (white, red, rosé and sparkling chosen from the “Allegrissimo Selection”), draft beer, soft drinks, mineral water, hot drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate) and a wide selection of drinks and cocktails from the bar list, as well as take away ice-cream in a cone or cup. And that’s real Italian ice-cream!

ALLEGRISSIMO CHILD- AU$20 / NZ$23 (per person, per day)
Unlimited consumption of soft drinks, mineral water, fruit juices, hot drinks, virgin cocktails, smoothies and milkshakes, as well as take-away ice-cream in a cone or cup.

That works out at $AUD 280 per student for the 14 nights on board the MSC Opera.

This offer has to be booked before our departure in order to secure the best deal. It helps them calculate how much stock they will require for the voyage. It is important to note that the offer requires everyone in the group to adopt that option.

The deal is valid in all bars and restaurants, including the specialty restaurants.

You will be pleased to know that the following items are excluded from the deal: cigars and cigarettes; champagne; premium brands beverages of an alcoholic nature.

It is really important to stress that the package does not include drinks from the mini-bar and water provided in your cabin. Nor, for that matter, any food items that may be in the minibar in your cabin. If you consume any of these items, these will be added to your bill which you will have to pay before we disembark.

The Allegrissimo package does not include souvenir glasses. If you want to purchase one of the souvenir glasses you canask to have your milkshake or soft drink served in one. It will have the MSC logo etched on the glass. A 10 oz glass will set you back €2.70 which is very reasonable. I’ve paid a lot more for Hard Rock Café souvenir glasses.

The Allegrissimo package does not include any food served in Specialty Bars and Restaurants. However, none of the drinks packages covers food. But starvation will hardly be a point of concern.

Not all items on the drinks menu are included in the Allegissimo package. Excluded items are detailed in the onboard Bar List, indicated with an asterisk. Here’s an example:

The package is valid for every day of the cruise and cannot be purchased on a daily basis. It must be booked by all guests occupying the same cabin, or just travelling together and wishing to eat at the same table, including minors who must book the Child version of the package. The package is not obligatory for infants under 3 years old (i.e. who have not yet reached their 3rd birthday). The price of the package applies to each day of the cruise except for the day of disembarkation. The package is for personal use only and valid for one order at a time. The ID card is non-transferrable. Abusing the terms of the all inclusive package may cause the service to be withdrawn and the remaining days not to be refunded.
